Phoenix Radio 96.7fm has been established since 1998 and is part of the growing number of stations that link very closely to the communities they serve. Phoenix went full-time on 10th December 2007.
As well as broadcasting on FM to Calderdale we also podcast specialist programmes and have recently reached 7,000 downloads in November. We have created a professional environment in which people can develop their individual skills, making full use of this local resource. Broadcasting allows people the opportunity to work in the medium of radio and to develop skills that may be transferable to other areas of work, study and social outlets. Our main focus remains supporting the communities of Halifax. A locally based radio station helps to serve not only the wider community of Calderdale on air but also serves the smaller communities with off-air activities. Our station links diverse communities and find ways in which support can be given where required.
This partnership with Calderdale College will help us to promote courses and allow students and staff to promote the work they do by having the opportunity to contribute to Calderdale’s own radio station.
