Calderdale College is the sole provider of Higher Education (HE) courses in Calderdale. We offer Foundation Degrees (FDs), BA Hons (Top-Up) Degrees, Higher National Certificates and Higher National Diplomas (HNCs and HNDs), Professional Graduate Certificates in Education (PGCEs) and Certificates in Education (Cert Eds).
Students at Calderdale College can gain a university-level qualification while studying locally. Being part of a small group of around 300 students, having industry-experienced tutors, and accessing high quality academic skill support are just some of the reasons that our students choose to study here.
Results from the 2014 National Student Survey show that 93% of our surveyed higher education students were satisfied with their course and time at Calderdale College, which puts us at number 12 in the UK for student satisfaction.
Our partner links with Leeds Beckett University, and the University of Huddersfield means that you’ll not only have access to university resources, such as online research tools and university libraries, but also that our teaching is of the standard you would expect at university.
The college’s continuing commitment to Widening Participation means we seek to provide educational opportunities to all - including those who may not have traditional qualifications; those returning to education or training after a long break and those with a specific learning difficulty or disability.
Calderdale College underwent Higher Education Review by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in March 2014, and was recognised as providing higher education that meets UK expectations - meaning it is comparable to other colleges and universities offering degrees. The QAA reported that the college has a strong commitment to student employability, and students value currency and relevancy of teaching and assessment. The QAA review team also identified 'The carefully tailored support for its student population, which the College further strengthens by integrating the Academic Skills Team into mainstream teaching' as a feature of good practice.
The higher education action plan produced by the college after our Higher Education Review, which includes responses to the QAA recommendations and affirmations is available here.
