Steve Richardson, Course Leader, Health & Social Care

"I began my career as a Trainee Residential Social Worker in 1999, working with vulnerable children who demonstrated extreme emotional and behavioural difficulties. I studied and developed my practical skills and progressed to a Senior Practitioner and then Assistant Unit Manager before achieving Registered Manager status of a home in Sowerby Bridge. Later, as a Senior Operations Manager, I was responsible for a series of children's homes around the north of England. Today, my teaching qualifications enable me to help develop the next generation of the children?s workforce, drawing on the superb resources and great learning atmosphere here at Calderdale College."

"I'm here because I like doing Health & Social Care. I like the tutors and I like going on placement. My tutors heave been really helpful throughout the 2 years and they helped me with my maths last year and my science this year. I would recommend this College because the tutors help you through the course and they are there if you need to speak to them about work."
