Meet the Course Leader

Richard Walsh, Course Leader, Professional Cookery

I graduated from the Academy of Culinary Arts at Bournemouth and Poole College then trained at the Royal Automobile Club in London. Later, I worked as a Sous Chef at the Balmer Lawn Hotel in Hampshire, before taking over there as Head Chef. I?ve also cooked at a wide range of establishments including Russell?s Restaurant on Broadway, the Red Lion Hotel in Salisbury and The Boars Head at Darwen, Lancashire. I studied for a Certificate of Education at the University of Huddersfield, and now I?m very happy to be at Calderdale College, helping enthusiastic trainees get the skills they need for this exciting career.

Student Testimonial

Former Level 2 Professional Cookery student, Benjamin Lee

I'm here because I want to train to be a Chef and I like food. I like all the cooking aspects and I want to go and work in the industry and then hopefully own my own restaurant. I would recommend the course because it's a fun, busy course.
