Staff Profiles Health & Social Care
Anne Marie Richardson
I have 35 years’ experience in the Health and Social care sector. I started my career at 16 years of age working in a Psychiatric unit in Bradford West Yorkshire. I have experience of all areas of Health and Social care, from a care assistant to Care Manager. I believe this gives me a vital life experience of which I can bring to the classroom and so to my teaching and learning. My qualifications are NVQ Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Health and Social care, BSC 1.2 Class Honours Degree in Health and Social Welfare, I also have a PGCE qualification in teaching within my subject specialism area. My passion for teaching within this specialist area shows in my personality and teaching. I would like to pass on my knowledge and passion to my students; I support each of my students to achieve their qualification and to share my passion within their employability of Health and Social Care.
I have spent over 30 years of my life working in care. Starting (in the 80s), as a Care Assistant, then working as a Nurse at the Royal Halifax Infirmary and then as a Manager in Health and Social Care. I have enjoyed many years nursing both adults and children and loved every minute of it. Along the way I have completed many courses including Levels 4 and 5 in Health and Social Care, Cert Ed, The L4 Assessors award and I am currently studying Level 2 British Sign Language. I have been here at the college for nearly 10 years now and my passion for Health and Social Care is as strong today as it was back in the 1980s. I believe that everyone has the ability to shine in that subject that interests and motivates the most, and it is our job to inspire and guide our learners to their goals.
