Jane Crumack

Prior to working in education, I enjoyed a fifteen year career working as a graphic designer for advertising and design consultancies, educational and community publishing and the museum service. I am currently one half of a design duo; and recent design projects have included greetings cards and corporate identity. My teaching experience includes course leader responsibilities on the HND Graphic Design and Photography programmes and the development of the Colleges Access and Foundation Degree Design courses and BA (Hons) Top Up. My main teaching interests are graphic design and typography. Outside of my teaching I am interested in photography, film, literature and creative writing.

Jim Wheatley

A subject specialist, Jim has experience in sound engineering, recording, production, mixing, game audio and music theory, having taught each of these disciplines across a variety of courses. Before joining Calderdale College he worked for almost ten years in the creative industries, producing podcasts for an award-winning counter culture magazine and creating music and sound design for a Nottingham-based production company. Jim also holds a higher level teaching qualification and a masters degree in music production, ensuring his industry experience is backed up with academic competency. Cutting his teeth as a vinyl DJ, he then pushed a live act based around innovative software instruments and hardware controllers, touring and performing around the country for many years. His main focus now is on production, composing electronic music and releasing on a variety of independent dance music labels, receiving support from DJs and producers across the drum n bass scene.

John O'Halloran

John O'Halloran has had many successes running labels, writing, producing and remixing throughout Asia, Europe and the UK. With hits under the guises of Terrorize, Elevation, Technocat and many more.A subject and industry specialist with 20 years experience at the front end of developing acts, labels and music brands to international recognition with most of the major labels throughout the world including Sony/BMG, EMI, Avex, WEA, Julianas and UKCN to name but a few. John also has his own fully equipped recording studio with an infinite amount of analogue equipment and the latest technologies where he produces acts for labels and management companies and mentors local musicians and producers.

Richie Greenwood

Richie Greenwood has been a professional DJ for over ten years, performing at some of the most prestigious nightclubs in the UK and Europe. His specialisms include DJ Performance and working with industry standard Digital Audio Workstations namely Logic Pro and Ableton Live. Richie studied here at Calderdale College before completing a Music Technology BSc Degree at Leeds Beckett University in 2009. Richie is still active within music scene both with DJing and the production of electronic dance music. He also works as part of Calderdales youth program, Write to Record and most recently the Orange Box in which he records young bands and up and coming musicians.

Sophie Dixon

Sophie has a BA in Drama from Hull University and studied for a MsC in Festival Producing at Queen Margaret University College. She has been a lecturer on all Performing Arts courses at Calderdale College for 10 years. She performs regularly with both text based and devised contemporary performance works including Stitching by Anthony Neilson and an observational/invisible theatre event surrounding the student protests against education cuts. She has also worked as a performer, collaborator and researcher with multimedia performance company, The Chameleons Group. Recent projects include The Prawn Joke, a devised physical theatre performance at The Lowry Theatre in Manchester and she performed at the 2017 Sibiu international Theatre Festival in Romania. She is currently studying for an MA in Performance at Leeds Beckett University.

Marc Burton

I graduated in 1999 with a Jewellery/Metalsmithing degree and worked as an independent artist gaining years of industrial experience, moving into teaching jewellery as a city and guilds qualification level 2 and 3 part time, then into an NCFE Level 2,3. In 2007 I gained my PGCE  and continued to work as an Artist as well as teaching specialist 3D, Jewellery, Mixed Media and Sculpture. In 2014 I took over the BTEC Level  2 in Art and Design as Course Leader and continue teaching this course as well working across other levels of Art and Design including Level 1 and Level 3. My specialisms include most aspects of 2d aspects Art and Design with a specialist focus on 3D Metalsmithing and mixed Media.

Lisa Eaton

Lisa graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Arts Practice and Cultural Policy from the University of Coventry. She commenced her career as a freelance dance development practitioner working in the areas of performance, choreography, dance in education, project development and dance consultancy. During this time Lisa worked with and alongside many artists, organisations, community groups, education establishments and local authorities, including the NSPCC and The Prince’s Trust. With a desire to develop as a creative leader and focus on performing arts business, Lisa went on to establish herself as an independent creative producer launching her own Yorkshire based management and consultancy company. Within this role Lisa has worked on a regional, national and international landscape to produce and manage innovative events with professional clients including Makin Projects, Benji Reid and Breaking Cycles, Yorkshire Dance, NSCD, Rita Marcalo, Hype Dance and SpearFish. Lisa joined Calderdale College in 2009. She is Course Leader for Level 3 Performing Arts (Dance) and Main Grade Lecturer on the BA Performance; “It is inspiring to work in education and be able to use my professional experience, understanding and expertise to nurture and support the development of learners as well as provide opportunities that prepare them for the world of work”.
