AAT Level 1 Award in AccountingVocational
The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is an internationally recognised accounting qualification and is one of the leading bodies in the sector. The AAT Level 1 Award in Accounting (AAT Access) is an introductory course which helps students develop essential business and finance skills. It provides a ‘taster’ course for students before they commit to the full AAT Accounting qualification.
If you are looking to start on the accounting career pathway, the AAT Access course is an ideal place to start your accountancy career by providing you with a comprehensive understanding to work within the profession and will give you a solid introduction to the relevant business and finance skills.
The course consists of the following units:
• Mathematics for accounting
• Essential accounting procedures
• Creating business documents
• Accounting in a professional environment
Delivery of the programme is through a series of lectures, workshops and seminars. The pace of learning is accelerated which requires a commitment of at least five hours home study per week. Homework, practice simulations and exercises are indicative of the programme to assess progress and learning on a weekly basis. All units must be completed successfully before progressing to level 3 and beyond.

Louisa started her career working in the Retail and Finance Sectors and began her ACCA studies in 2006. Louisa now works as a practising accountant with a local business. Louisa is passionate about teaching and helping students achieve their qualifications, incorporating working situations into her work to give learners a better understanding of the industry.

Questions & Answers
How is the course assessed?
All four units are assessed through one 90 minute assessment. This is a computer-based assessment and you will receive your result at the end of the assessment.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
Students can progress to the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
