AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3)Vocational
The AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting course will give you the practical, internationally-recognised finance and accountancy which is a very highly respected international professional body of accountants.
The Advanced Diploma in Accounting course will build upon the AAT Foundation Certificate skills and enable you to undertake more complex financial processes. This will include final accounts for sole traders and partnerships, reports and VAT returns, and professional ethics. You will learn how to use spreadsheets in an accounting environment and gain knowledge and understanding of costing systems and aspects of budgeting that will help aid short and long term decision making. You will also learn about professional ethics that members of the Association of Accounting Technicians are required to adopt.
The Advanced Diploma course is taught in classrooms with highly experienced teachers who have worked in the accounting environment. Classes contain a diverse mixture of learners of all ages and backgrounds.
Students are required to provide their own textbooks and AAT Membership costs. Calderdale College will pay for the Examination fees for each unit. The College will also pay for the first attempt at an exam and if required, the first resit. Any additional resits can be taken but the learner will be responsible for funding these attempts, the College will not pay for additional resits)
Delivery of the programme is through a series of lectures, workshops and seminars. The pace of learning is accelerated which requires a commitment of at least seven hours home study per week. Homework, practice simulations and exercises are indicative of the programme to assess progress and learning on a weekly basis.
Course Leader profile
Louisa started her career working in the Retail and Finance Sectors and began her ACCA studies in 2006. Louisa now works as a practising accountant with a local business. Louisa is passionate about teaching and helping students achieve their qualifications, incorporating working situations into her work to give learners a better understanding of the industry.
An interest in the subject and 4 GCSEs at grades D or grade 3 or above to include Maths and English. Accounting AAT Level 2 is recommended before enrolling on this course.

How is the course assessed?
Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts Preparation, Management Accounting Costing and Indirect Tax are assessed by an individual unit assessment. There will be a synoptic assessment towards the end of the qualification to test the understanding and connection between all the units.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
Completion of the course will enable you to pursue a career as an accounts administrator or assistant, bookkeeper, purchase or sales ledger clerk, trainee tax assistant or trainee accounts technician, then progress to the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting.
