The Apprenticeship in Plumbing is for those interested in all aspects of Plumbing and who want to do the majority of their training in the workplace. The type of employers range from small businesses to large companies and sometimes you may have to work away from home depending on the contract at the time. Level 2 learners are closely supervised at all times and will initially be doing basic plumbing work both at college and in the workplace.
As an Apprentice in Plumbing you will start by working under close supervision of a qualified plumber. You could be working on domestic, commercial or industrial systems. Aspects of the job will include installing systems, bending and soldering pipe work. Whilst on site you will build a portfolio of work based evidence as part of the NVQ assessment process. You will attend College for one day a week to learn about legal and technical aspects of plumbing and gain knowledge towards your Technical Certificate.
The underpinning knowledge, Technical Certificate and the Functional Skills are delivered at college and the NVQ portfolio is delivered in the workplace by gathering evidence towards completion of the practical units.
GCSEs to include English, Maths & IT at grade C or grade 4 or above or equivalent e.g. Functional Skills Level 2. All applicants will be interviewed and assessed for suitability by a Training Officer. Applicants will be expected to be in relevant employment with the support of an employer who can offer work that supports NVQ completion; however, those without an employer will be given job seeking assistance by the Training Officer

How is the course assessed?
Assessment takes place in the college workshops by curriculum staff and out on site by qualified assessors. The practical work and the theory work is assessed throughout the programme. Attendance of a portfolio building session is a requirement.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
Having completed your Apprenticeship at Level 2 you can now move on to the Advanced Apprenticeship which can include the ACS gas

During Your Study
Before enrolment you will be asked to attend an interview with a Training Officer and complete an assessment. The results of this will be used to determine the level of support you will require to complete your framework successfully.Apply for this course
