A Retail Apprenticeship will provide a real working experience in a large variety of establishments, enabling you to learn the ins and outs of the job whilst training. Upon completion of the qualification, not only will you be fully qualified, but you will also have the valuable knowledge and experience for this role.
A Retail Skills qualification at both Level 2 and Level 3 offers you the chance to develop new skills and gain recognition for the expertise you already possess allowing you to progress your career in the retail industry. The qualification is assessed in the workplace and offers flexibility in the choice of units to match your job role.
The work based qualification through the completion of an NVQ and technical certificate enables the applicant to gain competence and technical knowledge to give learners the practical, technical skills and sector-related knowledge they need to be able to carry out a job effectively.
As a retail employee, your role will depend on the needs of the business and your employer. At Level 2, you may be required to assist customers on the sales floor of a high street store or be handling their purchases in a small establishment. Alternatively, you could be working in a specialist store becoming a product expert and helping with specific queries.
The Level 3 qualification is aimed at employees who have worked in the retail industry for some time and are looking to move into a management role. Employees may also be currently working in a Supervisory/Management or specialist role (such as Visual Merchandiser) within the organisation and wish to develop their skills further.
Apprentices will study the qualification in the workplace.
All applicants will be interviewed and assessed for suitability for the qualification. Applicants will expected to be in relevant employment with the support of an employer who can offer work that supports the completion of the qualification. Applicants who do not have an employer will be given employment seeking assistance from our Communication Skills Academy. Level 2 applicants are required to hold a Grade E or Grade 2 or above in Maths and English GCSE's (or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards Maths and English Level 1 Functional Skills. Level 3 applicants are required to hold a Grade C or Grade 4 or above in Maths and English GCSE's (or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards Maths and English Level 2 Functional Skills.

During Your Study
Before enrolment you will be asked to attend an interview with a Training Officer and complete a Basic Skills assessment. The results of this will be used to determine the level of support you will require to complete your framework successfully.Apply for this course
