Course Leader profile

Jean Forbes

My BA Hons degree is in 3D Design Glass and Ceramics and I have 7 years’ experience working in the creative industry and being self-employed producing one off art pieces exhibiting and selling in galleries in England and abroad working closely with an established glass company.

I gained my Post Graduate Degree in teaching in 1999 while teaching for Calderdale College having previously gained my 7307 City and Guilds teaching certificate the year before. I have experience teaching art and design to a range of ages, levels and courses for a number of providers such as Bradford College, Calderdale College and Calderdale Adult Education.

Teaching is challenging but also immensely rewarding where no day is the same; to be part of a student’s journey, enabling them to become all they can be through education, setting them on a path to an exciting future is gratifying. I am constantly humbled by how amazing people are and feel privileged to be a part of their time here at Calderdale College, which is a positive and supporting environment to be part of and an often unrecognised gem of Calderdale.
