The Level 3 Certificate in Human Resource Practice is an ideal qualification for new and aspiring HR professionals who are currently within an HR role or who are seeking to join the HR professional field.


For those currently working in HR this course will provide you with the sectors recognised qualification in recognition of the skills and knowledge that you have learned through work experience and HR practice to allow you to move forward in your career. For those wishing to move into the world of HR it will provide you with the qualification that the industry sector recognises, opening the interesting and exciting world of HR to you as a career path. 

The Level 3 covers your own personal and professional development as an HR professional, organisation design, analysing and interpreting HR data, people development and talent management, selection and recruitment, performance management and coaching and mentoring within the workplace. Employment law, current and future legislation, case law and best practice are embedded throughout the course.

The need for qualified human resource professionals has been growing in recent years, as organisations have recognised the benefits of the broad skills set that a qualified HR professional can bring to enhance and support the design, management, development and working practices of their human resource. CIPD has over 140,000 members worldwide. This course is designed to give you an insight into best practice in the exciting and interesting world of HR, helping you to learn to identify current and future trends in HR delivery and functions both nationally and globally, enabling you to work at a variety of levels with confidence in this growing professional field.

Additional Information.

Fees for this course include registration with the awarding body (CIPD) and Calderdale College course tuition fees. Learners will in addition need to apply to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development for student membership in order to be able to complete this course. The delivery of the qualification includes the use of guided study through online media, class room delivery, workshops, observation, group and case study work, with an expectation of weekly private study. Links to local HR network events, the CIPD student conference, visiting speakers and a visit to an employment tribunal are additional aspects of this course.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific qualification entry requirements for this course. If you are currently working as an HR Assistant, Officer or Business Partner or you are wanting to change your career to work in HR then this is the time to apply.

Who is the course for?

The course is suitable for those who wish to acquire a wide range of practical sills in HR Practice. It is ideal for people who are aspiring to or embarking on a career in HR. It is also for people who are working as administrative assistants or officers or new to the role of business partner.

What will be studied?

The course at Calderdale College is divided into the following 6 Units: • Understanding Organisations and the Role of Human Resources (3HRC) • Developing Yourself as an Effective HR or L&D Practitioner (4DEP) • Recording, Analysing and Using HR Information (3RAI) • Resourcing Talent (3RTO) • Supporting Good Practice in Performance and Reward Management (3PRM) and • Supporting Individual Learning Through Coaching and Mentoring (3LCM )

Does the course lead to a qualification?

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Certificate in Human Resources (HR) Practice at Level 3.

How is the course assessed?

Each unit has a number of activities to complete, many are report based, others are observed activities and tasks.

Are there any opportunities for progression?

Progression from this course is to the CIPD Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Management.
