The Level 5 Intermediate Certificate in Human Resource Practice is an ideal qualification for HR Officers, Business Partners and Managers who are currently working within an HR role and who are seeking professional recognition for their skills and experience.


This course will provide you with the sectors recognised qualification in recognition of the skills and knowledge that you have learned through work experience and HR practice to allow you to move forward in your career.

The Level 5 covers your own personal and professional development as an HR professional, business issues in the context of HR, using information in HR, improving organisational performance, managing and co-ordinating the HR function, and employee engagement. Employment law, current and future legislation, case law and best practice are embedded throughout the course.

The need for qualified human resource professionals has been growing in recent years as organisations have recognised the benefits of the broad skills set that a qualified HR professional can bring to enhance and support the design, management, development and working practices of their human resource. CIPD has over 140,000 members worldwide. The course is designed to give you an insight into best practice in the exciting world of HR, helping you to learn to identify current and future trends in HR delivery and functions both nationally and globally, enabling you to work at a variety of levels with confidence in this growing professional field.


The delivery of the qualification includes the use of guided study through online media, class room delivery, workshops, observation, group and case study work, with an expectation of weekly private study. Links to local HR network events, the CIPD student conference, visiting speakers and a visit to an employment tribunal are additional aspects of this course.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific qualification entry requirements for this course. If you are currently working as an HR Assistant, Officer or Business Partner or you are wanting to change your career to work in HR then this is the time to apply.
