Course Leader profile

Shahid Raza

After completing my undergraduate studies in business management I had a keen interest in teaching but was really indecisive as to whether it was the right career for me. However after working as an EMA assistant teaching small groups of students I felt teaching was the right path for me, I completed a PGCE in secondary education with QTS and qualified as a business and Citizenship teacher in 2009. I have pursued my education and am currently completing my MA in education. After completing my PGCE I took some time out of teaching so I could concentrate on my business SR Automobiles LTD which I was involved in setting up from scratch. The business has gone from strength to strength and is rapidly expanding. After working for SR Automobiles LTD for 2 years I decided that it was the right time to take a step back from the business and return to education. Having worked in numerous secondary schools across West Yorkshire as I supply teacher I got a job as a main grade lecturer in business studies at Calderdale College. I also have additional responsibility as an Enterprise Champion. I have a wealth of both industry and academic experience in terms of business and am extremely passionate about the subject and love my job.
