Internal Quality Assurance AwardQualification
This qualification is designed to develop a range of skills and knowledge to achieve the evidence requirements for the Award in Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice.
This qualification is intended for those who maintain the quality of assessment from within an organisation or assessment centre. On successfully completing the award, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification. It is suitable to anyone who has a role in quality assuring any type of assessment.
Unit 1 will be run as classroom sessions, usually on two Saturdays. Unit 2 will be delivered on a one to one basis in the candidate’s workplace as arranged with the course tutor.

Lecturer in Teacher Education.
I have worked as a lecturer in Teacher Education for seven years as well as having my Primary PGCE. I have a Bsc degree in Environmental Management, a second PGCE in PCET and I also have a Masters in International Development. Within college I have taught on a range of ESOL and teacher education courses. I am currently course leader on the second year PGCE/Cert Ed, Internal Quality Assurance qualification as well as the Assessors qualifications.
The award is suitable for those people who are internally verifying assessment decisions or can have the opportunity to do so. Ideally you will need to possess an assessor qualification (D32 &, D33, A1 or one of the new suite of assessor qualifications). It is also beneficial to have an experienced quality assurer to act as your mentor and that you will have been actively assessing for at least one year.

What will be studied?
The qualification is now divided into two units as follows: Unit 1 – Understanding the principles and practice of internally assuring the quality of assessment (theory unit) - Unit 2 – Internally assure the quality of assessment ( this is a practical unit)
How is the course assessed?
Unit 1 will be assessed by a series of written tasks, along with a recorded discussion. Unit 2 will be assessed through observation and documentary evidence of your quality assuring.
Are there any opportunities for progression?
Qualified assessors may consider studying for a level 4, 5 or 6 teaching qualification.
