The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting courses will give you the practical, internationally-recognised finance and accountancy which is a very highly respected international professional body of accountants.

Description

The AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting course builds on AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting and covers financial team leader skills, including financial statements for limited companies, complex management accounting tasks, management skills and specialist learning areas relating to cash management and credit control.

The Level 4 course is taught in classrooms with highly experienced teachers who have worked in the accounting environment. Classes contain a diverse mixture of learners of all ages and backgrounds.

Students are required to provide their own textbooks and AAT Membership costs. Calderdale College will pay for the Examination fees for each unit. The College will also pay for the first attempt at an exam and if required, the first resit. Any additional resits can be taken but the learner will be responsible for funding these attempts, the College will not pay for additional resits)

Teaching

Delivery of the programme is through a series of lectures, workshops and seminars. The pace of learning is accelerated which requires a commitment of at least seven hours home study per week. Homework, practice simulations and exercises are indicative of the programme to assess progress and learning on a weekly basis.

Louisa Smithson

Louisa started her career working in the Retail and Finance Sectors and began her ACCA studies in 2006. Louisa now works as a practising accountant with a local business. Louisa is passionate about teaching and helping students achieve their qualifications, incorporating working situations into her work to give learners a better understanding of the industry.

Entry Requirements

An interest in the subject and 4 GCSEs at grades D or grade 3 or above to include Maths and English. Accounting AAT Level 3 is recommended before enrolling on this course.

What will be studied?

The Mandatory Units are: • Financial Statements of Limited Companies • Management Accounting: Budgeting • Management Accounting: Decision and Control • Accounting Systems and Controls. The Specialist Units are: • Business Tax • Personal Tax

How is the course assessed?

The Mandatory Units on the course all have individual unit assessments. There will also be a synoptic assessment covering all units to test learners understanding across all units. The Optional Units will be assessed by individual unit assessment.

Are there any opportunities for progression?

Progression routes - on completion of the course you will be able to study at a higher level for ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) or CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accounts) qualifications. Career options - Accounting
