    VQ Awards 2010

    Date: 24 June 2010

Football Freestyle World Champion and star of Britain’s got Talent John Farnworth wowed Calderdale College students and their families at the 2010 VQ Awards Presentation at The Victoria Theatre. VQ Day is a national celebration of vocational learning and achievement.

John took to the stage to show off his amazing ball skills and to present certificates and gifts to the nominated students. He was joined by Professor Andrew Ball, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield, who also presented awards and spoke of the positive working relationship between the University and College.

The show opened with an enthralling Bollywood style performance from student Deeba Amin and a welcome from Principal Chris Jones. The ceremony included an impressive Football Freestyle display by John, who amazed the audience with his exceptional talent. Chair of Governors Lynne Mackenzie closed the presentation and awarded host, Student Union President and Student Governor, Alex Foster with a special award for his outstanding contribution to the College. The evening concluded with drinks and a buffet.

Nominees were selected not only in recognition of success and achievement in their chosen field but also for the positive impact that their learning experience has had on their lives, including how their success has impacted on the wider community. Nominations were put forward for both young and adult learners and represented a wide range of subjects from childcare, sport and electrical installation to business, hairdressing and art & design.
