BTEC Business students Abbas Ali, Sibtain Hussain and Usman Arshad joined course leader Furkan Uddin in representing Calderdale College at the recent FE Enterprise Education celebration event.
Held at Weetwood Hall, Leeds, the event took place to showcase best practise and highlight examples of enterprise activities undertaken in colleges throughout the region.
Furkan and the learners presented to an audience of around 60 senior management members and lecturers across 21 colleges within the Yorkshire and Humber area. They spoke about the various enterprise activities they had been involved with at College, which included fundraising for the Prince’s Trust, the production of a video tour of the College and their participation in a Community and Social Enterprise competition at Oldham College.
The learners’ presentation went down extremely well with the audience, especially after they got everyone on their feet to complete a series of re-energising exercises following the lunch break!
“I was extremely pleased with the confidence and the success of the students. They have genuine passion for the projects that they have been involved in” said Furkan. The students were each rewarded with £25 gift vouchers for their contributions.
Welcome to all Calderdale College students; whether you are returning after the summer break or are just beginning your journey with us, we wish you a successful year ahead.
Local musicians will showcase their talent in a Battle of the Bands competition at The Old Cock, Halifax on Thursday 9th September from 7.
