Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading business and enterprise education charity for teenagers with a mission to: “inspire and equip young people to learn and succeed through experience.” It is therefore not surprising that Calderdale College supports such a rewarding scheme.

A group of BTEC National Diploma Business students have set up two businesses called Calder-Vogue & Special Touch Accessories. Special Touch Accessories is linked with Logistik a local design and communications company based in Leeds. As their mentor Logistik has already visited the College on two separate occasions to facilitate board meetings and panel the interviews for the position of Managing Director. Friday 23rd January was the first opportunity for the students to visit their company offices so that they could understand at first hand the importance of different departments, their processes and hold a board meeting.

The students have also visited Elsie Whitely Innovation Centre, Huddersfield University and Airedale Enterprise Centre with a hope of gaining some work experience for the learners. Talks are still ongoing so watch this space!
