Calderdale College Beauty Students Help at the Bethany's Smile Fashion Show28th February 2013
Level 3 Hair, Media & Make-Up and Level 2 Fashion Photography students will be doing Oscar-themed make-up for 20 adults and street dance face paints for 20 children at the Bethany's Smile Fashion Show tonight at Headingley Experience at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium at 7pm.
Bethany Hare’s Smile Foundation, also known as ‘Bethany’s Smile was founded in December 2011 by 12 year old Bethany Hare. She has raised thousands of pounds to support the care of children with life threatening illnesses. Her aim is to inspire and empower other young people to become fundraisers like her by joining her Smiler’s Club and holding their own events.
Pamela Claire, Hair & Media Make up and Beauty & Holistic Therapies Lecturer at the College does media and fashion hair and make up for events such as Leeds Fashion Show, charity fashion shows and Film and TV: “I am really proud to be part of the charity event, because it is for such a good cause and at the same time the College’s young make-up artists get the opportunity to display talent for a good cause.”
At Leeds Fashion Show Bethany and her mum asked Pamela if she could help do the make up at Bethany's Smile Fashion Show. Local footballers, Emmerdale Cast and Neville Longbottom are all expected in the audience at tonight’s fashion show.
Pamela has set up - Pamela Claire Make-Up Academy which is made up of 63 past and present students from the College and other surrounding institutions which enables learners at the College to gain vital industry experience and be able to put what they have learnt into practice in a real life work setting. The Academy enables students at the College to build on their portfolio, gain contacts and find work.
