Calderdale College opens doors for Higher Education Evening

A Higher Education Open Evening at Calderdale College on Wednesday 3rd June will give learners the chance to plan their futures. The event, to be held at the College in Francis Street from 5 - 7pm, is aimed at people of any age, from school-leavers looking for routes into Higher Education to people in work or mature learners coming back to study full-time. They will be able to meet teaching staff and current students and find out about ways of financing their studies. People are invited to call in without booking. Subject presentations will run at intervals throughout the evening in Business & Management, Computing & I.T., Construction & the Built Environment, Creative Arts & Media, Health, Social & Children's Care, Sport and Teaching.

"Calderdale College is the sole provider of higher education courses in Calderdale and we offer a range of qualifications across a broad spectrum of subjects", said Maryke Deahl, higher education manager at Calderdale College. "They include: BA Honours (Top Up) Degrees, Foundation Degrees, both full and part time, Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) as well as NVQs at Level 4 and 5 and other high level professional qualifications". Subjects range from the creative and expressive arts to business qualifications and vocationally led courses. "We've worked with our university partners and with students and employers to ensure that we have a range of HE awards, including new courses for 2009 and 2010 to help people to achieve their goals without needing to travel outside Calderdale."
