Calderdale College student Jake Lamb has been chosen to take part in a special documentary - Deaf Teen, Hearing World. The documentary is part of BBC Three’s Fresh strand series and will be shown in a series of documentary films from first-time directors in 2012. Director Claire Braden says the aim of the documentary is to take a look into a hitherto closed-off world, challenging preconceived ideas about deaf people and what it means to have a disability

Jake, who will be studying a BTEC extended diploma in IT, is taking part in the documentary showing how he adapts from school to college life. For the documentary he has been filmed receiving his G.C.S.E. results, enrolling at Calderdale College and the film crew will be following him through his induction week at the College. So be prepared you may see a film crew about in the coming weeks!

The aim of the programme is to show how deaf teenagers cope in a hearing world as they turn into young adults. Jake will be one of the four teenagers featured in the programme.

The documentary will be aired on BBC3 in Spring 2012 so keep an eye out for Jake and the College on the BBC.
