Dance Spectacular Lights Up the Victoria Theatre

A dance spectacular lit up the stage at the Victoria Theatre when students from the Calderdale College Dance Academy performed in 'Fusion', their end of year show.

Everything from classical ballet to street dance was represented, including jazz, tap and freestyle. Second year students studying for the BTEC National Diploma in Dance, choreographed some of the dances for the first years as well as their own solos.

Julia Anderson writing for the Halifax Courier said, “the combination of exceptionally talented students taught so very well, produced a fantastic show, better, in fact, than many I’ve seen by professional dance companies”. Read the full review here.

The Dance Academy was established three years ago for 16 to 18-year-olds from across the region who combine their studies at Calderdale College with two days a week in a professional dance studio.

Niall McMahon, Artistic Director of New English Contemporary Ballet, presented prizes to students at the end of the show.
