The College’s External Funding Unit raised its profile among other education and training providers and businesses from across the UK and gained a large amount interest outside the region.

The College was in the spotlight as a major deliverer of its European Social Fund projects including £55.7 million Work Place Learning programme and the £40 million Skills Enhancement Fund. The External Funding Unit raised the Colleges profiles with a plentiful supply of College branded ice cream, with over 3,800 scoops given out, as well as branded cupcakes and an agility machine.

The Skills Show welcomed over 70,000 visitors throughout the course of the three days and hosted more than 60 'Have a Go' areas with skills competitions, awards and activities all aimed to bring skills to life and change the way visitors think about skills, training and apprenticeships.

Joanne Patrickson, Director of External Funding at Calderdale College said: “Having such a strong presence at the skills show was a fantastic opportunity for the college. It’s put Calderdale College’s ESF project on the map and we have engaged with lots of new providers.”

The aim of the Skills Show was to raise public profile, awareness and recognition of Further Education, Apprenticeships and skills through a high profile annual showcase event and a national campaign of local Have a Go activities.
