Calderdale College’s Higher Education and Professional qualifications graduation ceremony will be held on Saturday 29th September 2012. The celebration event will start with a parade through Halifax from the Town Hall to the Victoria Theatre followed by the official ceremony at the Victoria Theatre.

The parade of VIPs, Graduates and College staff will start at The Town Hall at 11am and be led by the Band of the Boys' Brigade and the Girls' Brigade Halifax and Calderdale. The parade will follow the route from the Town Hall to Victoria Theatre via Princess Street and Alexandra Street. Roads will be closed to traffic during the parade and you will be able to watch the parade from any of these locations.

Calderdale College has more than 250 students who have graduated from a Higher Education or professional qualification during the 2011/12 academic year. They have studied a variety of courses including education, graphic design, construction and business studies. The College is in the top 20 education providers in the UK for Personal Support to students.

Each year Calderdale College staff nominate members of the local community for an Inspire Award. The awards are given to members of the local community who through their business or voluntary activities are an inspiration to others. This year’s nominees, who will receive their award at the Graduation ceremony, are:

• Paul Blakey – founder of Streetangels, a Christian initiative on the streets of Halifax, providing a safe place for those who are in town late at night.

• Claire O’Connor - ITVs Mumpreneur in 2008, winner of the Best Interactive Business Award at the Mumpreneur Conference & Awards 2010 and both Best Franchise and Business Parent of the Year 2010 awards

• Chris Green – founder of White Ribbon, a group that campaigns against male domestic violence against women

The ceremony is by invitation only and not available to the general public. If you have a friend or family member graduating they will be able to book a ticket on your behalf. Alternatively come along and watch the graduation parade on Saturday 29th September 2012 and support local students’ exam successes.

An official photographer will also take a variety of images to get a flavour of the day, these will be available on the website shortly after graduation. A full list of our H.E. and Professional courses is available online.
