IN A BAND? WHY NOT ENTER BATTLE OF THE BANDS 201130th September 2011
Local musicians have the opportunity to showcase their talent in a Battle of the Bands competition at Square Chapel Centre for the Arts, Halifax on Tuesday 18th October 2011 from 7.30pm -10.30pm. Entry to the competition is free and open to all ages.
Artists from around the region are invited to enter the contest by emailing a link along with the name of their nominated track to firstname.lastname@example.org or send an mp3 to the same address. The closing date for applications is this Friday 30th September 2011.
The bands that most impress the judges will be put through to the final on Tuesday 18 October at Square Chapel Centre for the Arts, where each band will play a 20 minute slot. The shortlisted bands will compete to win £200, a day’s recording at Calderdale College’s recording studio and a live gig in association with established music promoters the doghouse.
The competition has been developed by Calderdale College, Square Chapel’s Write to Record programme, Phoenix Radio and The Doghouse to showcases the best of new, young, local talent.
Last year’s entrants showed a really diverse level of skill and range of influences and was won in a closely fought competition by No Garden, One Dragon
Calderdale College has a modern, well-equipped music studio and offers a range of music courses which are suitable for those interested in pursuing employment in the music industry.
