Juliette Dances her Way to a Degree at the Royal Academy of Dance19th July 2013
Dance student Juliette Strobel, 18 from Mytholmroyd, has just won a place at one of the most prestigious and influential dance schools in the world.
Juliette recently received the news that she had been chosen from hundreds of other candidates to take one of only sixteen available places on a BA Honours Degree course in Ballet Education at the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) in London which starts this September.
Juliette who has just completed her BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts (Dance) Diploma at Calderdale College was able to gain the required UCAS points to be able to apply for the audition at RAD: “I am so excited to have been given a place at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Although Classical ballet is my first passion the BTEC course introduced me to other dance styles which have extended my knowledge and will help me to become a versatile teacher and performer in the future.”
Calderdale College helped Juliette achieve her dream of one day making a career in Ballet: “I chose Calderdale College because it provided me with the best opportunity to pursue my career in Ballet.”
Juliette recommends studying at the College as not only does it provide a high standard of training, but also improves students’ skills through contextual study: “You learn about the history of dance and other peoples dance genres which enriches your performance and broadens your knowledge of different dance styles.”
Juliette has high aspirations for her career after studying at RAD and wants to pass on her knowledge to others: “I would like to perform and choreograph pieces with a Ballet company and hopefully have my own school and students with licensed courses.”
