Music students gain valuable experience

31st March 2015

Music performance students Harry Bond, Dominic Collins and Tom Martin gained some hands-on experience recently when they spent the day and evening helping run the stage at the 10th Birthday festival of Halifax not-for-profit music promoters, The Doghouse.

Working under the watchful eye of Jordan Second, an ex-College student who is now a successful self-employed music engineer, the students helped set up and de-rig between bands in a quick and efficient manner to ensure that the festival ran to time.

Rothwell Shackleton of the Doghouse said: “It was great for us and the students as they gained some real experience and learnt new skills. Their help meant our festival ran very smoothly. We’d love to work with the music department again in the future and give further opportunities to students.”

A sell-out crowd of 250 helped create a lively atmosphere which the students enjoyed.
