Network Rail talk to Computing Students21st November 2013
Network Rail visited the College to talk to Computing students about career opportunities for women within their company. The session included a presentation, activities and a discussion on what working in IT really means, how to get into it, and the career opportunities available to our female students.
During the workshop they also introduced a nationwide competition aimed at girls between the ages of 16-18. This is to further challenge the perceptions girls have of working in IT, whilst helping them to develop their career knowledge and skills prior to their application to further education and beyond. Prizes include first-year university study sponsorship (worth up to £9000 of first-year tuition fees) and two weeks paid work experience for the students within the IT department of Network Rail.
