Performing Arts Dance Showcase10th February 2016
Performing Art Dance students put on an electrifying dance showcase last week.
The showcase featured the students’ assessment work as a part of the Level 3 course curriculum and included technical demonstrations from Contemporary Dance Technique Classes and students own choreography from various units such as Choreographic Principles.
Stacey Ridealgh, 17, Bradford, Level 3 Extended Dance Diploma said: “Tonight we are showing our progress from term one and we are also getting assessed on how we perform to an audience and self-discipline. I came to Calderdale College because I liked the facilities and when I auditioned I liked the teachers. The course will help me in my career as it has given me a wider understanding of different styles of dance and techniques and I’ve learnt about different choreographers. I would recommend the course as I’ve learnt a lot and it also covers different abilities. You don’t have to be the best dancer or come from a dancing background.”
Kyra Sykes, 17, Halifax, Level 3 Dance said: “I want to do well tonight as I am getting assessed on it. This course has given me an idea of what I want to do in my career because the course has increased my interest in dance. I’d recommend the course for anyone interested in dance or even acting because we also do physical theatre. It also gives you the skills to talk to people. I think the reason I have become so outgoing is because I do dance and you always have to work with people.”
