Learners studying for Level 2 Diplomas in Childcare and Education have entertained local children this week with a series of lively puppet shows.

The learners visited Cherry Tree Day Nursery, St Augustine’s Centre and St Mary’s Catholic Primary School to perform nursery rhymes for the children. They worked in pairs to produce the scripts, scenery and puppets.

The Level 2 Diploma in Childcare and Education is a one year programme designed for people who would like to work in a supporting role in private day nurseries, education, health authorities, social services and in private homes with young children under the age of 8.

Lecturer Joanna Donaldson said, “The learners have really enjoyed designing and making the materials for this project. Being able to visit the settings and interact with the children has been particularly beneficial for them as well as being fantastic fun for the children”.
