Students Design Calendar good enough to eat!

16th December 2008

A calendar that looks almost good enough to eat has been designed by Calderdale College students for the Incredible Edible Todmorden project.

A calendar that looks almost good enough to eat has been designed by Calderdale College students for the Incredible Edible Todmorden project.

The Graphic Design Honours Degree students were given a brief to create something funky, fresh and invigorating, given a two-week deadline and a tight budget.

“We’ve gone for a homegrown look with colours from nature and a hand drawn feel”, said Graphic Design student Emma Davies, 20. “We’ve mixed photos from the project with illustrations and digitally manipulated them. Given the timescale, we’re very pleased with the result”.

The incredible Edible project is a community-led scheme which has been picked up and championed by ‘River Cottage’ presenter Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. It encourages people to grow their own fruit and vegetables and promotes locally sourced produce and land sharing schemes.

Pam Warhurst, Chairman of the Incredible Edible Steering Group said “The students picked up the challenge and went with it. I’m very impressed with their professionalism”. The calendars are on sale at £4 from Bear Wholefoods in Todmorden or from www.incredible-edible-todmorden.com
