A group of Calderdale College music students staged their Monsters Ball, an evening of live musical entertainment, at the Old Cock in Halifax.

A group of Calderdale College music students staged their Monsters Ball, an evening of live musical entertainment, at the Old Cock in Halifax.

The learners are part of recently formed NetherRealm, a student-led music promotion organisation. The Monster’s Ball was the first in a series of monthly events planned entirely by the students, from the administration and marketing to the performance and technical support.

“The events are an exciting opportunity to celebrate the range of musical preferences in the area” said student Emily Collett. “As well as actually performing, we can gain practical experience in organising a gig from start to finish as well as networking and making real contacts”.

The next free gig will be at the Old Cock on 25th November. For further information, contact Rick Millington, curriculum leader in music at the College on 01422 357357.
