Students support the Olympic Torch25th June 2012
Ten learners from across College supported the Olympic Torch Relay and clebrations at the weekend. The event at the Piece Hall was a unique opportunity for the students to view the Olympic Torch and take part in the welcoming ceremony in Calderdale.
The learners were chosen from across College as a reward for working hard, having excellent attendance or overcoming difficulties. All the learners were recommended by their lecturers to be part of the event. The learners attending were: Tasleem Akhtar, Health and Social Care, Abbas Ali, Business Studies, Amber Burnett, LDD, Ben Casey, Sport, William Digney, Functional Skills, Sianna Haxby, Business Studies, Rebecca Kenyon, Sport, Victoria Marriott, Hairdressing, Ahmad Pour, Functional Skills and Robert Veitch Public Services.
Former Calderdale College student Hannah Cockcroft was one of the 13 torch bearers carrying the torch in Calderdale. She carried the torch through Brighouse.
