The Inspire Awards 2012 Nominees Revealed26th September 2012
It is that time of year again! The College is gearing up to celebrate the Inspire Awards which will take place during the annual graduation ceremony.
This year’s awards will go to Chris Green, founder of the White Ribbon Campaign - a campaign against male violence towards women, Managing Director of Baby Ballet, Claire O’Connor and Paul Blakey - Managing Director of Halifax Street Angels. They are due to receive the college’s prestigious accolade on 29th September between 12-1pm at the Victoria Theatre, witnessed by this year’s graduates, staff and members of the local community.
The Inspire Awards were established in 2009, to celebrate local pillars of the community who have demonstrated a commitment to higher education and the local community through their business or voluntary actions.
Individuals who are a constant inspiration to the Calderdale community are nominated by staff at the College based on whether they have made a difference to the local community, demonstrated the importance of higher education in the community or championed the entrepreneurial spirit.
Last year’s winners included double gold paralympian medallist Hannah Cockroft, Christa Ackroyd - one of the first female presenters and now a BBC Look North presenter and the Chair of the Trustees of Halifax Opportunities Trust and founder of local youth project, The Himmat project, Mohamed Aslam.
