The Inspire Centre wins Civic Trust Award

27th April 2012

Calderdale College’s new Inspire Centre, which opened in September 2011, has been highly commended in the Halifax Civic Trust Awards for 2012.

The awards presented at the annual meeting of the Civic Trust praised the design of the building as “dynamic and vibrant”. The awards are given for high quality restoration work, new buildings and landscaping projects that enhance the townscape or countryside of the area of the area of the former County Borough of Halifax.

The trust particularly liked the Inspire Centre’s row of four linked buildings. “This clever design turns what might have been an unpleasantly large slab facing Francis Street to what is, in effect, a series of linked pavilions in a variety of forms and finishes.” Said Mr David Hanson, Halifax Civic Trust Awards Co-ordinator.

The award was presented by the Mayor of Calderdale at the awards ceremony on Thursday 26th April. More information about the Halifax Civic Trust and the awards is available on their website.
