Travel & Tourism Residential Study Visit Destination Revealed19th November 2012
Calderdale College Level 3 Travel & Tourism learners went head to head to win the opportunity to decide where their class will go on their annual residential study visit.
Learners were separated into 4 groups and asked to present a proposal on where their course should go on their next residential study visit which is part of their course. Last year learners visited Salou in Spain.
Each group had 20 minutes to prepare and present their chosen destination and were faced with answering tough questions from the panel of judges.
Travel and Tourism lecturer, Angela Forsey, Programme Manager - Hair, Beauty and Holistic Therapies, Joanne Gas, and PR Officer, Alexia El Merhebi put each group under the spotlight and grilled them on their chosen destination.
After lengthy session, the judges reconvened to announce the winning group and 2013 residential study visit destination.
The groups were judged on a number of different criteria, Angela Forsey, Travel and Tourism lecturer said: “Learners had to complete a presentation which covered nine areas such as the aims and objectives, means of transport, accommodation, curriculum and development opportunities and considerations and constraints. We were looking for a group that worked together and considered all aspects of the brief.”
Jo Gas, Programme Manager - Hair, Beauty and Holistic Therapies said: “We chose this group because we think the learners will get a lot out of it. They chose an excellent hotel, took the rest of the group into consideration and chose an affordable package. They fulfilled the brief given and seemed to know a lot about the country and spoke as if they had first-hand knowledge.”
Congratulations to Rachel, Lamine and Haroon from Group 1! Your research on your chosen destination, sheer hard work and eloquence helped you stand out from the rest.
