Valentine Charity Hair Show27th January 2012
Calderdale College students are organising a valentine hair show to raise money for local charity Overgate Hospice on Monday 6th February at the Church of the Holy Nativity from 7pm.
Nine level 3 hairdressing and nine level 2 barbering students from the College’s North Halifax Skills Centre are all showing off their creative talents at the event.
The event at the Church of the Holy Nativity, Mixenden has been planned and organised by the students. As well as organising the red carpet hair and barbering catwalk they have organised entertainment for the audience including a martial arts display from Halifax National Martial Arts College and dance performances from Tonic Dance Sport and Suga Brown.
There will also be a raffle on the night with prizes donated by local and national businesses including Adelle’s Hair and Beauty, Anna of Northowram, Halifax National Martial Arts College, Harveys Department Store of Halifax , Sally’s salon services, Sweet Peas Florist of Ovenden, Overgate Hospice, Calderdale College, North Halifax Skills Centre, Overgate Design Wear in Brighouse,
Melanie Stott, Hairdressing Lecturer, said: "This show has been put together by students as part of a College project and we are pleased with the ticket sales so far. The students have worked really hard to stage the Valentine Hair Show and want to raise as much money as possible for Overgate Hospice."
All money raised from the event will be donated to the Overgate Hospice. Overgate Hospice is a charity providing specialist palliative care for the people of Calderdale living with a life limiting illness. On the evening the students will be working with Beauty students from North Halifax Skills Centre to provide a makeover for a member of the Overgate staff.
