Via Media Auschwitz Trip15th December 2010
Via Media is an organisation that works with 15 to 21 year old students promoting human rights and social justice, with the aims of challenging all forms of social, political and religious repression.
Via Media have been collaborating with Calderdale College, with 18 students taking part in their 12 week programme. Students took part in educational sessions which included role play, negotiation skills and learning from the lessons of history in a contemporary context.
The programme concluded with an eye opening residential trip to Krakow, Poland, where students visited concentration camps such as Auschwitz I. The aim of this was for students to view past experiences of repressed communities, bracing the cold to view the true to life living conditions of the concentration camps. Students found the trip a moving and emotional experience.
