Paul Floyd Blake, a former National Diploma in Photography student, has been awarded the first prize for the prestigious Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2009. The prize presents the best in contemporary portrait photography, with work of established professionals and amateurs sitting alongside each other. Scott Mullen, Level 1 Diploma Painting and Decorating, has successfully won his most recent boxing match after taking up the sport as part of the College’s enrichment programme. The fight took place on home ground at Halifax Boxing Club where he beat his opponent "Sharky", from Leeds Boxing Club. It was a well matched contest with each taking and delivering some tough blows before the verdict was announced. Although the result didn’t go as planned, the four players who made their debuts for FC Halifax Town against Farsley in the West Riding County Cup did themselves and the College proud.
