As part of working in the community a selection of students studying NVQ Level 2 Holistic Therapy took part in a stress down day with the NHS. The learners treated the health workers to a range of massage treatments including Indian head and body massages. From the feedback received it is clear that the neck and back therapies were a clear favourite, although some would have liked them to last longer than twenty minutes! All levels of learners were complimented on the standards of service and techniques performed with one NHS worker commenting: “It was great and it would be a wonderful if it was a regular thing. I had a 20 minute neck massage and surfed down to the Basement Project on a wave of optimism.” Well done to all those who took part.Stress Down Day – full story
Calderdale College’s Rugby League Academy has topped an excellent season by winning the Yorkshire Division One of the Colleges Competition yesterday in a decisive game against Wilberforce College from Hull. You can’t say that Calderdale College held back in the Red Nose festivities when it held a variety of fundraising events for the charity. The Student One Centre became the ‘Red zone’ for the day as bright red fabric covered the walls, pillars and other surfaces. Students and staff alike dressed up with the main theme of bedtime while the Hair and Beauty department donned the fancy dress attire of an alternative occupation. Keeping with tradition there was the usual cake and bun stall, a raffle, collection buckets circulating the building and games such as the Wii challenge in the Red zone.Calderdale College held variety of events for Red Nose Day – full story
