Calderdale College is holding three events this week as part of Colleges Week 2012, which runs from 11th-18th November. The aim is to showcase the opportunities offered by the College and raise awareness of what the College can do, such as providing the necessary skills to access a wide range of careers.

1 Festival

7th November 2012

As many of you know the 1 Festival took place today. Students and staff were invited to visit the 1 Centre and Reception where they enjoyed a dynamic combination of information and entertainment. The Learner Involvement Team, Equality & Diversity groups and the Student Union organised a range of activities across College for students and staff to get involved with.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has warned that UK electricians could be failing to meet with the latest IET Wiring Regulations.

5th November 2012 The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has warned that UK electricians could be failing to meet with the latest IET Wiring Regulations.

According to the IET report as many as 76% of electricians in the UK could be working without a copy of the IET Wiring Regulations, 17th Edition, BS 7671:2008 which incorporates Amendment No.1, 2011 designed to uphold electrical safety. The 17th edition Amendment No.1 also contains a number of changes including new paperwork for inspection and testing certification. It is essential for electricians to own a copy and fully understand the wiring regulations and the changes which have recently been made to ensure they operate in a professional and competent manner.
