Public Services Students at Calderdale College were surprised to find a family of ducks among the foliage while clearing one of the college's quadrangles at the Princess Mary Building for a Duke of Edinburgh Award this week. The duck, with her brood of 13 ducklings, were safely moved to a second quadrangle within the centre, where they wouldn't be disturbed, following advice from the RSPB.Students give family of Ducks a helping hand – full story

Calderdale College's commitment to the community was further endorsed this Bank Holiday weekend as part of the Calderdale Neighbours Day, which was held in the Piece Hall for the first time following success at previous years. The fun packed weekend involved a sponsored 1km and 5km fun run sponsored in part by the College in addition to activities such as circus skills, local history, grow your own food and street dance. The V Project, a volunteering project involving Calderdale College learners, also had a stand in partnership with Voluntary Action Calderdale where they were busy handing out information about upcoming voluntary projects and activities as well as a badge making challenge with young people.
