    Calderdale College is committed to the development and growth of sport in the area that we serve. As part of our commitment we are the proud 'Official Education Partners' for a number of local football and rugby league clubs. This includes providing College academy players to take training sessions and master-classes from our coaching staff (a number of whom are ex-professionals). The clubs we currently work with are:

    Calderdale Rugby League Service Area is an organisation that comes under the Rugby Football League banner. It supports and assists all aspects of Rugby League, in clubs, schools and other outlets in Calderdale that participate in Rugby league. We work along side the Calderdale Community Coaching Trust, which is the delivery arm of Halifax RLFC.

    Greetland Goldstars JFC, a Football Association Charter Development Club, has teams from under seven to ten (Calderdale mini-soccer league) and under eleven to sixteen (Junior League) as well as under ten, thirteen and fourteen teams in the West Riding Girls' League. To keep in line with the prestigious Development Award, the club has qualified coaches at all age groups and is open to players of all abilities.

    Halifax Irish Juniors FC is a family orientated club and has players from 5-16. We currently have 14 teams with nearly 200 children. We have just moved into our new home (Cactus Joes Mini Soccer Centre @ King Cross CB+AC), providing our children with one of the best surfaces and safest environments in Calderdale to enjoy their football. We have great links with Professional Clubs Burnley, Blackburn, Huddersfield, Manchester City and Leeds United.

    Mission Statement

    We will provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants; help to build positive self-esteem for players; teach team participation and responsibility; teach participants to respect and honour opponents and all other participants (coaches, officials, parents); teach sportsmanship and fair play; teach football skills in an environment where players compete with other players of comparable age and weight; and teach all participants how to win, how to lose and how to do both with dignity.

    HX1 UTD is a new founded organisation which runs three junior teams in the Calderdale junior football league. Our organisation is passionately committed to bringing grass roots football to the children and young people of Park Ward. We are thrilled to be working with a partner that reflects our aims and ethos in regards to the future of young people. We feel strongly about both academic and sporting excellence.


    Ovenden Amateur Rugby League Club

    Ovenden ARLFC has been promoting rugby league since its formation in 1937. There is little doubt that during these years the club has built a local reputation and has significantly contributed to the sporting lives, well being and social cohesion in the area through its coaching programmes. Ovenden ARLFC plays at the highest amateur level in the flagship National Conference Leagues and has over 200 players on teams of all ages, male and female. It involves over a hundred children and young people in rugby league skill development and competition

    Highlights

    • The club serves the most populated areas of Halifax mainly Ovenden/Illingworth but provides players from most other Halifax teams
    • Many ex-Ovenden Juniors and former players are players of other teams in Halifax
    • We are seeking to run teams at all age groups (under 10s, 11s, 13s,15s, and under 16s)
    • Two girl’s rugby teams at under 13 and 15 levels a regional champions
    • Provides a ladder of progression, through open age and Calderdale service area representation .
    • As a club we have a proud tradition of players, past and present going on to professional ranks as well many others playing at a high level in local leagues for other clubs.
