Our Access to Higher Education Diplomas for Education give you the opportunity to apply for a degree in Education or Early Years. This can lead to a career working in schools, Further Education, Early Years and a range of children’s services.

Access to HE- Education
Whilst studying the Access to HE Diploma (Education) you will complete units which may include the following modules:
- The Education System
- Curriculum Design
- Positive Behaviour Strategies
In addition to these subject specific modules, the course includes developmental units to support you in developing your academic skills in preparation for university.
When applying to university, we will support you with completing your UCAS application, personal statement and we will provide you with an academic reference. It is important to note that successfully completing your Access to HE Diploma does not guarantee you a place at university. While most universities accept Access to Higher Education Diplomas, it is your own responsibility to check that your UCAS application meets the current entry requirements for your university course choices.
Teaching
Your tutors provide an incredibly supportive learning environment to ensure that your individual needs are met and to support you to support you to achieve on the course.
In addition to your work at college you will be required to undertake independent study and research for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Tutor and progress coach: Deborah Scaife, BA (Hons), has a dual role on the Access to HE programme as a part-time tutor and part-time progress coach. Deborah has a varied background including project management, delivering nationwide training for several charities and working as an independent trainer and consultant to schools, colleges and local authorities on many topics. With a wealth of experience in the university application process, she has a first class Honours degree in Community Development from the University of Bradford and gained her PGCE at Calderdale College. She is also a qualified NLP practitioner and has qualifications in counselling and mediation.
Entry Requirements & Interview Process
You are recommended to have GCSE Maths Grade C/4 and GCSE English Language at Grade C/4 or above or a Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent. However, you may undertake GCSE study alongside the Access to HE Diploma.
If you wish to study Teaching, you must have GCSEs in English, Science and Maths at Grade C/4 and above at point of entry.
You are highly advised to check, prior to enrolling, the entry requirements of any courses you wish to apply for at degree level.
