Course Info

This course coincides with the ‘Every Child Matters’ scheme which is the government’s current approach to young people. The policy aims to ensure the well-being of every child from birth to age 19 by offering them support. The intention of the course is to help children by minimizing the chance of child abuse and neglect. The module has aims to ensure each child,whatever their background or their circumstances, has the support they need to: be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and acheive, make a positive contribution, and achieve economic well-being.

On completion of this Virtual College course, the learner will:

  • Understand the various types of child abuse and neglect
  • Identify the signs and what to look for
  • Know what steps to take if there is a suspicion of abuse
  • Know what to do if a child or adult discloses abuse
  • Understand the importance of keeping records
