Entry Requirements: 1 GCSE in Maths and English & ideally Level 2 qualification in Childcare

Course Info

This qualification is designed to help learners build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years of age. It covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s setting.

The programme will give you the underpinning knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Framework, theory of child development and assessment in practice.

The programme is made up of mandatory units and longitudinal study.

On successful completion of the full apprenticeship programme learners will receive individual certificates for:

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) (QCF)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills ICT
  • CACHE Level 2 Award in Employment


Delivery can be tailored to you and your workplace requirements and can either be day release to College one day a week or total delivery in the workplace.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

It is essential you have at least 1 GCSE in Maths and English at a minimum of Grade C or grade 4.

Applicants will ideally have a full and current Level 2 qualification in Childcare with at least 6 months experience.

Candidates without the Level 2 qualification will be considered dependent on experience.

You must be in paid employment for at least 30 hours per week as a important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills, knowledge and understanding of the early year’s practitioner role within a setting; you must also work across the 3 age groups i.e. Babies, Toddlers and Pre-School.
