Course Overview

This course focuses on the principles and practices of modern dog grooming techniques and is aimed at anyone who wants to start working in the industry, or gain the skills for personal use.

This level is ideal if you want to begin working in the dog grooming industry and want to learn the skills you need to work under supervision in a dog grooming salon, or simply gain the skills to carry out dog grooming at home.

To earn this qualification, you must complete two units:

  • Health and Safety in a Dog Grooming Environment
  • Prepare, Style and Finish a Selection of Dog Breeds

This qualification is aimed to take Candidates on a journey from complete beginners to be able to confidently style several dog breeds. Depending on the needs of the individual Candidate, the qualification can:

  • Prepare individuals to progress to a qualification in the same subject area but at a higher level or requiring more specific knowledge, skills and understanding
  • Prepare Candidates for employment
  • Support a role in the workplace

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Candidates need to have a level of understanding to be able to work at Level 3 but do not need to hold a Level 2 in Dog Grooming to register for this qualification. There are no other entry requirements.

Progression

This course can help you become a dog groomer or build on an existing career in the industry. There is also a level 3 certificate available to complete.
