This is a one year programme designed for people who are aged 16 – 18 and 19+ who would love to work with children and gain a Level 2 Certificate.
Opportunities can involve supporting roles in private day nurseries, education, health authorities, social services and in private homes with young children under the age of 5.
The course teaches the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to pursue employment in the industry and/or progress to the Level 3 if successful.
You will spend two days a week on work placement, as well as studying a variety of subjects including:

The learners will gain knowledge in College and be assessed on their skills in placement.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process
An intermediate course suitable for people aged 16-18 and 19+ who have at least 4 GCSE Grade at D/Grade 3 or above including English Language or a relevant/equivalent Level 1 qualification plus Functional Skills English at Level 1.
All students need to have a clear DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. The College will apply and pay for this.
Applicants will need to supply two satisfactory references and attend an interview with a specialist tutor.
Progression
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (EYE) or an Apprenticeship, Diploma in EYE Workforce.
This could lead to a career in private day nurseries, education, health authorities, social services and private homes in Britain, as well as overseas as a nursery assistant, holiday companies and cruise liners.
Assessment Methods
The programme is assessed on unit tasks, a portfolio of evidence, a satisfactory work placement with reports showing competence.
