Course Info
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services is a qualification designed to give learners the opportunity to build both managerial and care skills. It fulfils the regulatory requirement for those looking to become managers of children’s homes or adult residential and domiciliary services.
This qualification is for those who already work in Health and Social Care Settings as Assistant or Deputy Managers or Managers who have not yet achieved a vocational qualification at this level.
Learners will be employed in a Health and Social Care senior role and will study the qualification in the workplace to gain the underpinning skills and knowledge required to operate effectively.
The work based qualification combines competence and theoretical knowledge to give learners the practical competencies, skills and sector related knowledge they need to be able to carry out their job effectively.
The Level 5 Diploma is made up of mandatory units which cover areas such as:
- Equality
- Partnership Working
- Outcome Based Practice
- Supervision
- Safeguarding
There are also a number of optional units which are chosen by the learner to suit their job role including:
- Recruitment and Selection
- Developing Operational Plans
- Induction
- Managing Finances
Teaching
The majority of learning will take place in the learner’s workplace; an optional drop in late evening at College will offer learners the opportunity to take part in group discussions and teaching sessions covering all subjects within the qualification.
Entry Requirements & Interview Process
There is no set entry requirement for this qualification.
However, the qualification is only available to candidates 19 years and older and it is expected that the candidate is working at Level 2 or above in English and Maths.
